Yes: this life is an internship preparing each person for what is to come later on: a possibility to get eternal life, but certainly not just like that. There are some terms involved that insure it willnot become an eternal mess we see in this life: violence, murder, war, rape, addictions, stealing, etcetera.
"This is life eternal: that they know Thee, the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou has sent", says Christ in John17:3
The first term is knowing God and knowing Christ and believing in them. God is a Spirit and is called YAHWEH. Christ has a risen body and is called Yeshua (derrived "Jesus").
Secondly it is important to know the 10 basic Rules God has given to live by: the 10 Commandments of God. Going against those Rules means sinning against God and the people around you. Also it is important not to sin against your own body through having sex in a way which we are not intended to. Sinning is going against love, truth and righteousness and causes all the evil and suffering in this world. With that knowledge you can live a clean life suitable for an eternal life in the presence of God and Christ.
Living without God and Christ leads to this world with diseases, sufferings and wickedness. Clearly eternal life needs the guidance of God and Christ. Not only later on, but also in the present changing us so we can live that eternal life as it is supposed to be lived in full. Getting that needed guidance actually means getting God and Christ in your life and joining them!
Therefore knowing and believing in God and in Christ has to be followed by joining Christ and joining God which is done in 2 steps:
#1. Joining Christ through baptism;
#2. Joining God by prayer with the laying on of hands.
In Christ you are a worthy and clean temple. Also worthy to receive God's Spirit in. And if you sin you can ask God forgiveness with an appeal in the name of Christ.
In God Who is a Spirit you also receive God's Spiritual Tools. God's Spirit will guide you, but with those special Tools you can go out in your own life and bring the good news of Life eternal. Tools concerning special given abilities to speak, teach, heal, prophesize, write, bring the Gospel, discern good and evil, speak in tongues, etcetera.
#3. Putting these Spiritual Tools to active use in your life will lead to the needed Fruit of the Spirit so you will get eternal life.
Like an internship you will need knowledge but also faith, and learning by doing and applying in your real life. In that way getting ready for the real life: life eternal with God and Christ. So start that internship today and get to know God, Christ, the needed 10 Rules, etcetera. And of course: leave your old life behind
Before you do all that take a short moment to introduce yourself to God. Close your eyes, lift your hands up and tell Him about you, your life, intentions and needs. End your introduction with "that you did so in the name of Christ Yeshua". If you do so: that will be your first prayer. Prayer to God and to Christ are needed to establish a personal relationship with each and both of them, so talking to them during your internship will be very important!!
God is eternal and Christ is also alive so don't be amazed when you get reactions and answered!
