High homocysteine levels caused by smoking, drinking, coffee, animal products, & stress cause Osteoporosis. B12 combats this condition!
Wrong approach to Osteoporosis
Everyone thinks of Calcium, while Magnesium might be better. Everyone thinks of dairy, while that is precisely what causes Osteoporosis to a significant extent. Everyone thinks of Vitamin D, which is good for the absorption of Calcium (provided it is not in extreme doses), but Vitamin B12 is forgotten, even though it is important for osteoblasts, osteoclasts, the balance between them, and the hardening of the bone through remineralization!!! And if people supplement with B12, they do so incorrectly, resulting in very little absorption...
B12: osteoblast production & hardening
B12 ensures the formation of new bone cells, but also activation via the enzyme alkaline phosphatase in those new cells, which makes the bone stronger and harder. Homocysteine: double misery!
At the same time, B12, together with B6 and B11 (folate!), counteracts homocysteine formation; this amino acid, homocysteine, reduces the formation of new bone cells and promotes the breakdown of bone cells! As a result, bones become brittle and lose their flexibility.
Large-scale studies indicate that with a long-term B12 deficiency, these problems arise particularly in the lower back and hips. And there is a general risk of falls and fractures.
1,000 mcg B12 in the mouth > 65
Taking extremely high doses is undesirable, but Dr. Joel Fuhrman advises taking 1,000 mcg B12 daily from age 65, and 1,000 mcg every other day for those under 65. Importantly, Dr. Michael Greger states from scientific research that it is important to hold the B12 (Cyano-Cobalamin) in the mouth (soluble/chewable tablet) with some water for 5 minutes. So do not swallow immediately, because research shows that B12 is absorbed specifically in the mouth; elsewhere it is not (a radioactive marker indicates this). After 5 minutes in the mouth, absorption is good; a little longer is also acceptable if necessary.
Good nutrition: 100% plant-based!
Animal protein always causes inflammatory factors and poses a high risk of common diseases, so naturally you should avoid it entirely.
Foods that inhibit or counteract homocysteine are:
1. Nuts, kernels, seeds, legumes!
2. Leafy greens and cabbage varieties!
3. Broccoli, onion, asparagus
4. Vegetable sprouts
Homocysteine is aggravated by:
1. Coffee
2. Alcohol
3. Smoking
4. Animal products
5. Stress
Stopping immediately is therefore highly recommended! Increased bone density through walking
Walking/jogging frequently and training with weights are also important because they promote bone density.
Foods high in Mg & Ca
Opt for plant-based foods only and definitely not for supplementation; (certainly not a high quantity of Calcium just like that!):
1. Nuts, kernels, seeds, e.g. in daily oatmeal!
2. Tofu and Tempeh
3. Black beans & chickpeas
4. Oatmeal
5. Flaxseed
6. Lentils
7. Brown rice
8. Banana, berries
Eat these daily and in sufficient quantities; definitely do not diet.
Fosamax: 'a sop' - not a solution!
Meds including Fosamax (Alendronic acid) are a serious assault on your esophagus! And ultimately also 'a wrong manipulation' of your bones! And what many do not know: you are only allowed to take this corrosive, aggressive medication for a certain/short period of time. Many, however, keep taking it because there are no real (effective) solutions from the medical field. Nutrition and lifestyle are also not the area of expertise of medical professionals, who primarily sell medicines...
The logical approach is simple:
1. Stop coffee, smoking, drinking, eating animal products, and stress;
2. Start supplementing with B12 and D3;
3. Eat a 100% plant-based diet, and specifically oatmeal with nuts, kernels, seeds, legumes, spices and fruit (see above);
4. Go for lots of walks, jogs, and exercise with weights or kettlebells.
This way, you reverse the cause of the damage, improve bone recovery, and increase your health and resistance. Discuss this path and approach with your doctor or other healthcare providers.
*Preventing early graying & baldness
*Counteracting damage from Covid jabs
*Diabetes: stress is a major factor!
