Christ the Rock of God YHWH

"And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ", 1Corinthians10:4.

That will be a shock for most churchmembers: that Paul identifies Christ as the rock in the desert that accompanied the Israelites in the desert after leaving Egypt. How could Christ be there, because he wasn't born yet?! Not on Earth as the son of men, but he already existed as the son of the One True God; the Eternal Spirit called YHWH:

"The LORD created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.‭From eternity I was appointed, from the beginning, from before the world existed.‭ ‭When there were no deep oceans I was born, when there were no springs overflowing with water;‭ before the mountains were set in place — before the hills — I was born,‭ before he made the earth and its fields, ‭or the beginning of the dust of the world.‭ ‭When he established the heavens, I was there; ‭when he marked out the horizon over the face of the deep,‭ ‭when he established the clouds above, ‭when the fountains of the deep grew strong,‭‭when he gave the sea his decree ‭that the waters should not pass over his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,‭‭then I was beside him as a master craftsman", Proverbs 8:22-30.

Christ was alive and living with God in God's Glory (not his own glory!) before Creation says Christ in John17:5

"‭And now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory I had with you before the world was created", John17:5.

And this why Christ could say: "Before Abraham was I am", John8:58. Simply because God created Christ before Creation and before Abraham lived.

For Trinitarians, Binitarians, Messianic and Judaism this will be a hard pill to swallow. Even Jehovah's Witnesses (clearly not witnesses of Christ called Christians) won't like this, because their rock is God alone and Christ is just "an important witness", yet unto them not to be worshipped...

Yet Christ is to be worshipped (John5:23) just as we worship God, the Father of Christ and us (John20:17), because God demands it (Acts4:10-12, Philippians 2:9-11) of all creatures. He is the rock of God:

"So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”‭and‭ “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", 1Peter2:7-8

Christ referred to himself of being that Rock of God several times:

"‭Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock", Matthew 7:24.

Christians build their spiritual house on Christ (by baptism, Galatians 3:27, Acts19:5). And the Israelites drank living water from the rock as we know from 1Cor4:10. But Christ also refers to this when he said the following:

"Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water", John4:10.

He said this to the Samaritan woman at the well, but he also says this to the Jews in Jerusalem:

"let the one who believes in me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water .’”‭ ‭(Now he said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)‭", John7:38-39

Verse 39 however explains that here he is not talking about drinking water, but about the Spirit that was to be poured out (as water is poured out). Only in Christ you can later also obtain God's Spirit. During the Outpouring immediately when baptized (Acts2:38), but after the Outpouring by prayer with the laying on of hands, Acts19:6 and Acts8:17-18 tell us:

"and when Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began to speak in tongues and to prophesy".

"Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, and they received the Holy Spirit.‭ ‭Now Simon, when he saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands".

It is very important to understand that Christ is the Rock of God. That there is Christ, but there also is God YHWH, A Spirit, John4:24. Without confessing Christ as Lord of God you are without "that living water" one gets from/through that Rock of God.

Romans 10:9 explains it simply as follows: "Confess Christ as Lord and believe with your heart God raised him from the death and you will be saved".

Surely that confession and derrived faith in Christ as Lord of God and in God YHWH has to be led accordingly. Read more about that here:
