Children of God just as Christ!
God YHWH is a Spirit (John 4:24) and lives forever; He is the Eternal. Yet He has an inheritance in store, Romans 8:17 says:
"And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
An inheritance for the Christians and for Christ, for he is co-heir. We share with him in God's Glory.
"I ascend to my and your Father, to my and your God", John20:17.
If Christ were God, he wouldn't inherit anything, because that would be nonsense. No: as a child of the only true God who is a Spirit, Christ is also a co-heir just like us. And like Christ, we are given a resurrected, heavenly body, Romans 8:11 also states:
“And God raised Jesus from the dead. Now if the Spirit of God dwells in you, God, who raised Christ Jesus from the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies by the power of His Spirit who dwells in you".
God lives not only in Christ, but also in Christians who received God's Spirit through prayer with the laying on of hands after baptism. Laying on of hands prayer then fills you with God's Spirit and Spirit gifts, Acts 8:17-18 states:
"Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Spirit was given..."
This can also be read in Acts 19:6:
"Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them. They spoke in strange tongues and prophesied."
So Christians in Christ (baptism) and in Spirit (prayer+laying on of hands) will share in Resurrection and Eternal Life just like Christ. And shall be like the angels in heaven:
"When men rise from the dead, men and women do not marry each other, but are like the angels in heaven." Matthew 22:30.
That is how important it is to believe in Christ and in God, because otherwise you will not share in the inheritance in which Christ also shares! Christ puts it this way:
"This is life eternal, that they may know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." John 17:3
"Believe in God, believe also in me." John 14:1.
