New Moon

Monthly renewal during the day

Sabbath and New Moon are statutes of God for all His Children forever and provide rest weekly and monthly respectively.

"Therefore, do not care about criticism as to food and drink, observance of holidays, New Moon or Sabbath. Such things are but a shadow of things to come; reality itself is Christ."  Colossians 2:16-17

In short: celebrating God's Days is part of it and belongs to Christ, which you will have to deal with sooner or later.  So let it be sooner than (too) late!

We also know that there was access to God in the Temple on the special Sabbath and New Moon.  Although there is no longer an Earthly Temple: Christians are also God's House in Christ.  And in that perspective, Sabbath and New Moon certainly remain special and very blessed for Christians:

“This I say, O Lord God: The east gate of the courtyard shall be closed on the six working days; it shall be opened only on the Sabbath and New Moon.” Ezekiel 46:1

"But Christ is faithful as a son, who is steward of the house of God. We are that house, if we hold fast our hopes confidently and proudly." Hebrews 3:6

Celebration for Christians

Christians keep both God's Sabbath (Rev 14:12, 4th Commandment of God) and God's New Moon as a day of rest;  no work/trading/earning money.

The New Moon Day is the moment when the moon starts all over again*: the opposite of the full moon, so a completely invisible moon.

Astronomically, that new moon could be before sunset or after sunset;  and therefore has nothing to do with visibility!

 • If the astronomical new moon falls before sunset: then you celebrate New Moon during the day on that day.

 • If the astronomical new moon falls after sunset: then you celebrate the New Moon during the day the day after.

Each New Moon is the first day of the biblical new month which, because of the biblical day - which runs from sundown to sundown - starts with sundown of the previous day.  The same, of course, also applies to the Sabbath that begins on Friday at sundown and ends on Saturday at sundown.

The New Moon is all about the (monthly) renewal.  This includes resting, praying, relaxing, fasting, singing praise songs, reading the Bible, watching Bible movies, walking, and so on.  The New Moon Day celebration ends with sunset.

Practical implementation:

 • Start the day cheerfully and thankfully with prayer;

 • Invite people to you;

 • Come together in musical praise;

 • Cook and eat together;

 • Pray together and read from the Bible;

 • Watch a Bible movie together;

 • Walk together in your neighbourhood.

Instead of "together" you can of course also start the day on your own and fill it with praise, praying, reading the Bible, listening to praise music, walking, watching a Bible movie, and so on.  A wonderful day full of Blessings, so that you can face it for another month, strengthened and rested, on your way to the next New Moon, which is celebrated every month.

Determination New Moon practical:

 1. Google Astronomical New Moon [in your place]

 2. Then Google sunset [in your place]

 3. Determine whether the astronomical new moon falls before or after sunset.

 4. Before sunset: New Moon on that day, otherwise day after.

*Note: The New Moon is definitely not a crescent moon, as that is a pagan ordinance in honor of the idol symbolized by the crescent moon (Alilah, Ishtar, Easter, Astarte, Trinity, Biunity, etc.) which are also usually worn on their temples as a pendant.  /amulet around their necks or on clothing, and so on.  With those dark idols/idolatry, a celebration in the evening/night is therefore easy to understand... The Messians always celebrate too late due to the Hillel2 institution commissioned by Rome, which has consequences for God's Calendar and the start of God's Feasts.  In addition, most of the New Moons under Hillel2 have been abolished or converted to mundane days!
